Week 4 Post 1
Subway is a very large company that has been around since 1965. I wouldn't say they have a target demographic because as a business that focuses on food worldwide they cater to everyone. Subway has always been family friendly and they do offer a kids menu so it is difficult to pinpoint a direct demographic. The website is very bright and well done. The site shows off their food in a very detailed manner as well. The website has a very nice layout with a focus on their food rather than other information. The history and about us section is thrown to the bottom of the site so it doesn't clutter the focus on the food. The colors are recognizable with the green and yellow and they come off as neutral yet inviting. The calls to action are heavy on their website with a popup message greeting you about a deal immediately when you visit the site. The overall tone and message about the website is to purchase their food any way you can. There are many ads that show there are many different ways to order and I believe that is what they want to focus on the most. They want to make it as easy as possible for customers to order their food as quickly as possible and for a business it is not a bad strategy.
Hungry Bear
Hungry Bear contrasts Subway by being very local and they only have one location. Hungry Bear is a sandwich shop located in Vista, California and like Subway they have a focus on food so their demographic is anyone. Yet unlike Subway, they only have one store so they cater to the local population rather than worldwide. The website is very nicely laid out with a focus on being a California / San Diego company hence their logo. The pictures of their food are very detailed and high quality and the color scheme is focused on red, green, and white like the California state flag. The main focus is on the food but they do have all their information on the top of the site making it easy for the customer to see. They also have different ways to order through online and GrubHub which helps business even during these times. The overall message of Hungry Bear is that they are local and they pride themselves on their award winning sandwiches.
